Building on a rich tradition of herbal wisdom, Sea of Yin was founded by Lora Silva to offer handcrafted, herbal body care for those seeking natural & effective alternatives. With a commitment to earth-centric values, Silva’s products are thoughtfully crafted to honor both the plants she works with & the people who use them.
As an herbalist & acupuncture intern, Silva has a deep reverence for the connection between plant & human bodies. She views the skin as the meeting point between us & the world – the dynamic edge where growth & transformation occur. Sea of Yin was created with this vision in mind: to provide intentionally made potions that nurture & protect this fertile boundary, supporting you as you navigate the changes of daily life.
WHY SEA OF YIN?
When founder Lora Silva began crafting her line of body care potions, the concept of Yin emerged as a natural inspiration. Yin represents the deep, nurturing & receptive aspects of existence – the quiet container that holds space for transformation.
The name Sea of Yin is also a tribute to the ocean, a powerful force that shapes life on Earth. Water is the essence of life, making up the majority of our bodies & the bodies of plants. Without it, no cell can thrive; no life can exist. The ocean’s rhythmic dance, seen in the tides, mirrors the natural flow & movement essential to all living things.
Just as water spirals & mixes, creating a harmonious blend, Sea of Yin embodies this interplay of elements – bringing together the graceful, cohesive movement of nature’s cycles. This is why we chose the name: to celebrate the union of nurturing Yin energy & the vital, life-giving power of the sea.
